June Budget Recap

I have finally been paid again which means it's budget recap time! Didn't this month drag like hell? Spoiler alert; I spent a shocking amount of money this month for someone who is supposed to be saving.

My New Tattoo | 30 By 30 & Being More 'Me'

It's been five long years but I finally did it! I finally treated myself to a new tattoo. I had 2 full weeks off work so I decided to take the plunge and book myself in with a local tattooist. I thought my next tattoo would be the sunflower that I've wanted for the last two years or so, but then the ladybird idea came to me and that was that!

My Litha Altar

I celebrated Litha for the first time this year! I only just remembered to decorate my altar for it though. As I'm in the early days of having an altar, I haven't had the chance to pick up everything I feel I need for my altar at the moment. I need to go shopping for more ribbon and coloured candles!

6 Accomplishments in 6 Months | Litha

It's officially Summer! I celebrated Litha - the Summer Solstice - for the first time this year and one theme of Litha is to celebrate your accomplishments over the last six months. So here is my list of my top six accomplishments in the first six months of 2022!

How I Deal with Depression

Lately I've been really struggling with depression and anxiety again. I've been feeling incredibly low and been having really horrible thoughts towards myself and I hate it so much. I hate feeling hopeless and helpless and like everyone would be better off without me. I have tried to talk to my GP but I literally cannot get an appointment. I end up being on hold for 15-30 minutes and get told there's no appointments left at 8:15am even though I was fifth in the queue. It's beyond a joke! So I've been trying to help myself.

Litha & How to Celebrate

Next Tuesday (21st June 2022) is Litha! Litha is also known as Midsummer or the Summer Solstice. It's the longest day of the year and the shortest night. Litha is the energetic climax of the year, where the Sun is at his peak. It's time to celebrate all we've accomplished over the last six months! This year is the first year I will be celebrating Litha and I'm really excited to welcome in Summer 2022.

4 Blog Posts I Will Always Read

I don't often get to read blog posts lately - shameful, I know - but there are always certain types of blog posts that I will read if they catch my attention!

The Wiccan Wheel of the Year

The Wiccan Wheel of the Year is a circle of time, seasons, birth, growth and death. It represents the full cycle of the seasons according to the sun. Witches celebrate Sabbats to make the passing of the seasons. These include the Equinoxes, the Winter and Summer Solstices and the days falling halfway between. The Sabbats are the holy days for witches, when the atmosphere is charged for magick, manifestation and reflection. The eight sabbats form the Wheel of the Year.

June Budget & May Budget Recap

May Budget Recap

My budgeting goals were fairly simple for May! My goal for my debit account was to not go under £600 and to not spend more than £250 on my credit card. Sounds fairly simple right? Let's see how I did shall we.

May Recap & June Goals

I have been so incredibly burnt out this month! There's been multiple days this month I have woken up and nearly cried at the thought of going to work. I don't really hate my job but I am really and truly exhausted! Working three weekends per monthly rota doesn't help, I feel like I never really get to rest. Thankfully though, I booked myself some annual leave for June and I'm so excited to have a week off to just do what I want!

I celebrated two birthdays and got horrendously drunk at the second one. I had to go to work the following afternoon and I felt like I was going to die. It was a really fun night though, I haven't enjoyed myself that much in ages!

How I Survive Night Shifts

If you're a regular reader of Simply Saph or follow me on twitter, you are aware that I am a Support Worker for non-verbal autistic adults in residential care. I am day shift staff but occasionally I do wake nights as well! I have currently done five night shifts, with another two to go on this rota. I've been lucky enough that our most active resident has either been away or asleep at a reasonable hour, so I've not been running around the house after them! So here are the ways I've been able to keep myself awake on nine hour night shifts.
