My New Tattoo | 30 By 30 & Being More 'Me'

It's been five long years but I finally did it! I finally treated myself to a new tattoo. I had 2 full weeks off work so I decided to take the plunge and book myself in with a local tattooist. I thought my next tattoo would be the sunflower that I've wanted for the last two years or so, but then the ladybird idea came to me and that was that!
I spent days looking on Pinterest for design inspiration before I finally decided on one. I emailed a tattoo shop basically saying "I'd like something like this please!" and within a few days my deposit was paid. I was incredibly excited but also so bloody nervous as it had been so long since my last tattoo and I knew the spot I wanted it in was going to be painful. I meant to get myself some numbing cream but I never did!

The artist - Clare - was an absolute delight though, she is the sweetest person! She was really excited about the design too and was happy to accommodate my very last minute design changes and colour requests. She made me feel very comfortable and checked in on me multiple times throughout. She even gave me a cold bottle of water as soon as I had arrived, as it was a hot day and I'd just done a 30 minute walk to get there!

I'm so happy with the end result! I did debate getting the dots on the wings filled in so they're just black - she does free touch ups and changes within  the first six months - but Josh thinks I should leave them as they are as it's more unique! I've got a few months to think about it though so we'll see. It ended up costing me £120 for two hours work. I also bought a 100% natural butterluxe tattoo balm while I was there. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and only cost £6! It's cherry scented, smells absolutely gorgeous and feels so soothing when I apply it.

I will definitely be going back to Clare and we already have some other designs discussed! I'm also really excited to say that's another item ticked off my 30 by 30 bucket list in 2022.

Until next time,
Saph x
