I have officially been off Instagram for over a month now. Give or take. Unfortunately I can't remember when exactly and I no longer have the last image I posted, but we'll say about a month. I feel so much better for it.
I have had a love-hate relationship with Instagram ever since I started blogging. Instagram is the worst place for comparison. Why aren't my photos as good as theirs? Why don't I look like that? Will I ever be that popular? Becoming a bookstagram account did help with that slightly - not much, but a little. But then I stopped reading for a bit, so I wasn't posting, then I stopped scrolling through my feed and just watched the stories instead. It all seemed a bit pointless.
Then Twitter introduced fleets and that was it, I didn't need Instagram anymore. Although I do sometimes miss watching stories - hardly anyone uses fleets - I do feel a lot better for getting rid of Instagram. I relate to a lot more people on Twitter, and there's a lot less showing off!
I think my head feels a bit clearer for deleting Instagram. I've also turned off my Facebook notifications, as I noticed that when I deleted Instagram, I was scrolling through Facebook more often. Now I spend most of my free time scrolling through Twitter and Pinterest. Though I am starting to lose interest in Pinterest again too! I'm seeing a lot of the same pins and it's getting a little dull.
What social media apps have you deleted? Do you feel better for it?
Until next time,
Saph x
I agree. Although I still use Instagram, I keep feeling like it's pointless. There are so many people out there only for 'likes' and 'follows' and it makes me feel like talking to a bunch of robots. I prefer Twitter since it feels like I'm talking to actual people there. I can relate to what you're saying.
ReplyDeleteI think it's so important to recognize which social media platforms work for you personally. I have always had a love/hate relationship with Instagram as well, however, I'm falling in love with it far more now that I found pet IG. I'm not sure why, but I just don't feel the need to compare as much in that space as I did using it previously.
ReplyDeleteI still use Instagram but I think I'm gonna put less pressure on myself. I enjoy it for watching and using stories, but I never feel I can live up to the posting frequency or quality to do well over there. Twitter all the way
