Save the Dates & Wedding Invitations for less than £10

Is it time for wedding content? With just seven months to go, I believe it is! I feel like Save the Dates are a very American thing, but it seems to be getting more popular in the UK. I couldn't think of a better way to announce our wedding - especially as we're only having a small one - so Save the Dates it was! We're getting married in May, and many people tend to go on holiday in May, so I wanted to get the word out ASAP but we weren't ready to get the invitations out.

I made our Save the Dates on Canva. It's free, it's pretty and so easy to do. I went through a few different designs before deciding on just a simple design. I chose our favourite photo of us from the Christmas season, added our date, "invitations to follow" and a cute drawing of wedding rings. It cost nothing and took hardly any time at all. Instead of printing them out, I decided to just text it over to the majority of the people we're inviting. I did intend on getting two printed for Josh's dad and Nan but I never got round to it.

A few months later, I finally decided to make the invitations. Once again, Canva to the rescue! It was much harder picking the invite design. I went through six different designs before finding "the one!" Most of them were too pink, too autumnal, and just generally not right. I was trying to avoid making it too similar to Josh's sister's Save The Date but, we have similar tastes, there's only so much I can do. I had two designs finalised, one leafy green, and one with wildflowers, and let Josh pick the final design. Of course, he went for the green leafy one - which was my favourite anyway.

I downloaded it to my phone, and then used good old Freeprints to get them printed. I paid £4.69 for 15 glossy prints, including expedited delivery. I was a little bit worried about ordering them from Freeprints, as in the past photos have come with some blotches, but for that price, it was worth the risk. We got 15 because we've done one invite per household, an extra one for my niece and her boyfriend, and then an extra one for us as a keepsake.

They arrived within a couple of days and they were absolutely perfect! I was so happy with them. I picked up a pack of small envelopes from Poundstretcher for less than £2 and then they were ready to go! The majority of the invites were hand delivered, so I saved money there too. The only invite that needed to be posted, was to my auntie, and my Mum very kindly supplied the stamp, as she had to take it home with her and write the address on anyway.

I'm so pleased I was able to spend so little on these! I've seen it in the past where people can spend £100 just on pieces of paper and I can't help but think WHY when there's so many options now to do it for basically free.

I'm also thinking of creating a timeline for the guests in the same way, and placing them on their seats.

We love our invites, and got lots of compliments on them. Would you use Canva and Freeprints for your invites? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
