3 Ways to Replace Cotton Pads

It's official, 2021 is going to be the year I finally start being more eco-friendly. I made a start last year, by starting to use Body Shop bath and body products, who are striving towards becoming 100% zero waste with their packaging! But there's always more I can do.

One of my bugbears is cotton pads/rounds. There's just something about buying a product just to chuck straight in the bin that really annoys me, and these are one of the easiest things to replace with eco-friendly and reusable options! So here are the three ways I'm replacing cotton pads in 2021.

Scrubbies
For Christmas 2019, Josh's sister gave everyone Scrubbies. Handmade, reusable pads! I use them for taking off my cleanser and applying toner. They come in a pack of five, but slowly they all disappeared. Thankfully, Josh didn't use his at all and gave them to me once my last Scrubbie disappeared this January.

Muslin Cloth
Previously, to take my makeup off, I would use two cotton pads per eye! Now, I have swapped to a lovely body shop muslin cloth.

Nail Varnish Remover Pads
The final thing I use cotton pads for is taking nail varnish off. I wasn't entirely sure that there was an eco-friendly alternative for this but a quick search and voilà! I found these bamboo reusable nail polish remover pads! £6 for five on Amazon and one pad lasts ages!

What are you doing to be more eco-friendly and live sustainably this year?

Until next time,

  1. I am going to have to check out this nail polish remover pads. I have made the switch to using eco-friendly options for everything else but I was still buying the cotton pads just for that one purpose. I wasn't aware that there was an eco-friendly alternative!

  2. Thank you for sharing this the nail polish pads are something which I have been meaning to purchase once my cotton wool runs out. I already use the ones for my make up and 100% prefer them
