2020 Reading Wrap Up

I still can't believe how many books I read this year! I completely expected to struggle to read 20 this year, so I couldn't believe it when I realised I've read 27! Although I easily could have hit 30+ but I decided to have a break from reading this month, until Saturday when I decided to start reading Hangman by Daniel Cole! I probably won't finish it before the New Year, but I'm enjoying it so far!

I've really challenged myself this year too, I decided to branch out a bit! You probably know my general taste in books include lots of murder and a miserable detective. I just can't resist a good murder mystery! But I've read so many different types of genres this year, including poetry.

The Best Book(s)

I tried to pick just one book but I couldn't! So in order, my top three books of 2020 were:

  1. The Night Circus, Erin Morgenstern
I'm still in complete awe over this book! I'm desperate to read it again but at the same time I'm still not over the magic of the first read. Gorgeous book, this will stay with me for years to come.

  1. The Flatshare, Beth O'Leary
I absolutely adored this book. The characters, the plot line. *chef's kiss* I need to get my hands on more of Beth's books asap.

  1. Five Feet Apart, Rachael Lippincott
I still don't know how I stopped myself from crying reading this! I generally don't like teenage romances anymore but this one really hit different. I watched the film recently and I still nearly cried! Although the book was better.

The Worst Book

The Witchfinder's Sister, Beth Underdown
This was literally the most boring book I've ever read, I think I actually fell asleep reading it. Easily the most disappointing read of 2020.

One That Made Me Cry

Then She Was Gone, Lisa Jewell.
I still haven't got over how much this one made me cry! I barely struggled to keep it together reading Five Feet Apart, so Then She Was Gone gets top spot for actually causing me to shed tears.

One That Inspired Me

Bring me to Light, Eleanor Segall
This is the book that actually led me to begin my secret project! I had been considering it for a while, but reading this really got my gears going.

I'm so happy with a majority of the books I've read this year, very few of them left me disappointed!

Until next time,
