2018 Goals | End of Year Review

I didn't set myself many goals for 2018. I even switched them out for new ones back in August, as I was sure I wasn't going to reach them! It's been a bit of a crazy year, with lots going on, so my priorities had to change quite a bit.

My Festive Netflix Watch List

Christmas isn't Christmas without snuggling down in your favourite blanket, a hot drink and a Christmas film. Normally, I don't bother (I'm such a Grinch) but due to trying to get into the Christmas spirit, I've perused Netflix's 'Festive Favourites' to see what might not cringe me to death.

The Benefits of Heating Your Home With Oil*

When we’re looking at moving to a new house, heating is one of our primary concerns, especially if we will be buying the property and so responsible for the upkeep of the system, and for the cost of any repairs and maintenance needed. Heating is one of the things that surveyors look at so that you’ve got all of the information about the central heating system, the boiler, and the hot water, in your new home. The last thing that we want after all is to move into a house to find that it’s cold, the boiler is struggling, and expensive repairs and replacements are going to be needed in the next year.

Usually, these searches come back telling us that a gas main supplies the home that we're looking at. That’s what we expect to see. When we’re told that a house is heated with oil and that you’ll need to look at bunded oil tanks to store it, it can be a little off-putting. Not least because most of us have never heard of it. We grew up in houses connected to a gas main. We’re familiar with combi boilers and British Gas. Anything out of the ordinary is scary. But, it doesn’t have to be. In fact, there are many advantages to heating your home with oil. Here is a look at a few of them.
