July Recap & August Goals

July was a "meh" month. It usually is though to be fair. It's my dad's birthday in July and I always get miserable at this time of year because I miss him so much. However, there were some positives too.

Josh and I did a bootfair, along with Charlie and our friend and we really enjoyed it! We made a decent amount of money but we also spent a fair bit. We also had a very cute date night. I picked us up some snacks from Home Bargains, then we cuddled up on the sofa, watched a very good film and had some giggles. 10/10 recommend a simple date night.

It was also Charlie's birthday this month! How the heck do I have an eight year old now? Josh and I treated him to a day at Legoland on the weekend before, and then he had a birthday party with his Dad on his actual birthday. He had a good time, bless him.

I mostly stuck to my budget in July. I did do a little bit of unnecessary spending, including wasting money on purple shampoo/conditioner that did absolutely nothing to my hair, and I treated myself to a helix piercing. Although I don't regret that at all and absolutely love having my helix piercing back!

I gave up on the lazyfit app almost immediately. It ended up being a paid subscription and as someone who is trying to save money, I did not need another subscription to pay for. I have however started tracking my steps again and my daily average is 9,000 steps! I'm pretty happy with that! All I need to do now is go weigh myself to see if the steps are making a difference...

Don't even get me started on the falling asleep earlier/waking up earlier. I started off so well, I was asleep by 11pm and waking up at 6:30/7am for the first week or so. And then it all just went to shit and I still haven't fully recovered. I did get some sleeping tablets but unfortunately my brain is just too awake and full of ideas and things I needed to remember most nights. Maybe this month?

August Goals

Post on Tiktok more
I love tiktok. I desperately want to create content and have even gone as far as buying a tripod for my phone to create said content. I've been trying the whole of July. I follow creators that post the kind of content I want to create for inspiration. However, I just can't bring myself to post any of the footage I film. It's definitely because I worry about being judged. Mainly by people I know. It's the whole reason I blog anonymously. I also don't like my voice and using voiceovers put me off. Plus I can't do the carousel thing, annoyingly. But I really want to do it. So, my goal is to do just that. Maybe not necessarily the content I *want* to post. Think day in my life, minimalism/decluttering. But even something. Even if it's footage from our honeymoon. I'm going to attempt to post at least 3 times this month. Wish me luck!

Have the Best Honeymoon Ever
I don't know why I worded it like that. It's not like I have another honeymoon to compare it to. But it is the only one we're having and I want us both to have the most incredible time. It's our first solo holiday too and we can't bloody wait.

Do Another Bootfair
We still have a fair bit leftover from the last one that we want to get rid of and we have since gathered more stuff together to try and sell. Thankfully this month I have lots of weekends off so we can do more than one if needed. I do think that taking Charlie and our friend with us wasn't the best idea as we were limited with car space, so the next one will definitely be just us two so we can load as much as possible into the car.

Finish Redecorating Charlie's Bedroom
We decided to redecorate Charlie's bedroom as part of his birthday present, but we got as far as building his new bed and ordering a new wardrobe and then it all just ceased. So it's a late present, as his birthday has been and gone at this point, but I'm determined to have it done by the end of this month! I started painting this week but there's still tons to do...

What are your goals for August? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
Saph x
