Diary Entry #14 | A Secret Engagement

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll probably have seen my big news - I'm engaged! Funny story, I actually proposed to Josh last November, but we decided to just tell our immediate family members and closest friends. It was very tempting to not tell anyone else until it was time to send out Save The Dates - but it's looking to be a long engagement! There was no way I could keep my ring hidden for that long.

Unfortunately there's no big romantic proposal story to tell. I had planned to recreate our first date and propose on the beach but the ring arrived, I got nervous and kind of just...asked. "You know how much we love each other and want to be together for the rest of our lives? Will you marry me?" Could have been worse! Josh was just relieved that the pressure was off him to propose.

I also got to choose my own engagement ring! Which was also probably a relief for Josh, though I had faith in him to pick the right one. I'm absolutely in love with my ring, though the diamond is much bigger than I thought it was going to be!

It has been so hard keeping our engagement a secret, but at the same time I loved having a big secret. It really and truly felt like only our opinions mattered and we've been in such a happy bubble. The hardest thing was not being able to tweet about it! Every few minutes I've been wanting to tweet about my future husband and our wedding - that's why we finally decided to announce it! I can finally talk about it, even if I can't officially plan it yet. We want to be in our own house before I'm allowed to make any real plans. You know I've already got a wedding planner app on my phone and a wedding board on Pinterest though. I'm tempted to do what Josh's stepdad did - book the wedding in secret and just tell him when to turn up!

Until next time,
Saph x
