I was doing my usual scroll through Pinterest when a blog post title caught my eye.
Long story short, this woman has been removing 10 items from her home, every day for the last 13 years. Every. Day. This is anything from an item of clothing, to a dried up pen. I think that's crazy impressive! With pretty much every minimalism 'game', the items you're getting rid of either have to leave the house completely or go in the bin to count. This obviously makes sense but, as I tend to try and sell most of the items I no longer want, I'm still technically hanging onto a lot of the stuff I've 'decluttered'. They've just been moved into a different room, or the garage, to store until it's sold, or I give up trying to sell it and donate it.
Honestly, it's a problem. I'm determined to sell as much as possible, so I have added quite a lot of my stuff to Shpock over the last year, to see if I can sell it before the bootfairs start and Mum will start taking it to them. So yeah, maybe not as much of a minimalist as I like to claim. But I feel if it's not in my room anymore it doesn't count! But really it does. So I'm going to take a different approach to decluttering now.
From now on I plan to be completely honest about my decluttering, and only list items that I have GENUINELY binned/sold/donated etc. I'm not convinced I can manage 10 items a day but here goes! I'm going to start with seven days and then go from there. Wish me luck.
