Restarting My Wicca Journey

I am the proud owner of seven Wicca/Witchcraft books, and I decided that 2019 was the year I restarted my Wicca journey by reading them all. Two of my books are actually spell books, so with those I did less reading and more of a quick flick through but I am still counting them towards my reading goal!

If you want to know more about my history with Wicca, I would suggest you read this post which is also a review of the first Wicca book I chose to start with this time around.

The second book I read, I honestly don't even know where it came from. I think it might have been a present! Llewellyns 2003 Wicca Almanac. "A hip new guide for Pagan living." I groaned when I read that and I groaned while reading the book to be honest. It wasn't particularly informative as it was more of a culture zine than anything. Although I did find the How to be a Modern Witch Mom and A Witches Shopping Guide articles quite interesting! If it wasn't for those, the book would have been donated. Although, some of the articles may have been more helpful, but the book is now 16 years old...

5 Easy Steps to Becoming a Witch is probably the most casually written of all my Witchy books. It's also the shortest, and most of the information is in "snippets" which will make it easier to read and refer to in the future. There were also some interesting spells - although I was shocked to find a spell for revenge! I really like how the author is very body positive though, that was unexpected but very nice to read!

Modern Witchcraft: Facts Learned from Experience is an autobiography/biography of a Witch from my very own home town. It wasn't quite the book I was expecting, but as it was a gift, it's been well looked after. Though I am now on my second attempt at reading it!
There's a section dedicated to a Coven initiation, and as someone who isn't planning on joining a Coven, it was fascinating to read how his initiation went!

The Real Witches Handbook by Kate West is the first Wicca book I ever read. After reading through it again, I've realised it's a less casual version of Harmony Nice's book. Of all the books I currently own, I will most definitely be referring to this one and Harmony's the most to begin with!

Until next time,
Saph x
