2019 TBR List

Only three more books to read before I complete my (adjusted) Goodreads goal! Normally I wait until I've finished a book before I pick out a new one, but for once I know exactly what books I want to read by the end of the year. Here's my 2019 TBR list:

Five Dark Fates Kendare Blake
*Contains spoilers for the previous book*

"Three Dark sisters rise to fight.
Mirabella has returned to the capital, seemingly under a banner of truce.
Katharine maintains her rule over Fennbirn - for now - but at a huge personal cost.
Arsinoe is lost, the responsibility of stopping the ravaging mist heavy on her shoulders.
As the oldest and youngest queens circle each other, and Katherine begins to yearn for the closeness that Mirabella and Arsinoe share, the dead queens hiss caution. They whisper that Mirabella is not to be trusted. But even they are drawn to her power..."

The final book of the best series I've ever read! I literally cannot wait to start reading this, it took all of my self restraint to not immediately start reading it when I unwrapped it. I've been waiting since February to find out how this ends!

Vox Christina Dalcher

"Jean McClellan spends her time in almost complete silence, limited to just one hundred words a day. Any more, and a thousand volts of electricity will course through her veins.
Now the new government is in power, everything has changed. But only if you're a woman.
Almost overnight, bank accounts are frozen, passports are taken away and seventy million women lose their jobs. Even more terrifyingly, young girls are no longer taught to read or write.
For herself, her daughter, and for every woman silenced, Jean will reclaim her voice. This is only the beginning..."

This is one of the four books my boyfriend bought me by our second date (pretty much the exact moment I knew he was a keeper) and it's the only one I haven't read yet! It's a reimagining of The Handmaid's Tale which - as horrifying as it was - I did enjoy watching so I'm very intrigued to see how much worse it can get!

Then She Was Gone Lisa Jewell

"She was fifteen, her mother's golden girl. She had her whole life ahead of her. And then, in the blink of an eye, Ellie was gone.
Ten years on, Laurel has never given up hope of finding Ellie. And then she meets a charming and charismatic stranger who sweeps her off her feet.
But what really takes her breath away is when she meets his nine-year-old daughter.
Because his daughter is the image of Ellie.
Now all those unanswered questions that have haunted Laurel come flooding back.
What really happened to Ellie?
And who still has secrets to hide?"

I have been dying to read this one for what feels like forever. I haven't yet read a Lisa Jewell novel so I'm very eager to sink my teeth into this one!

Have you read any of these? Let me know in the comments!

Until next time,
Saph x

  1. you need to read VOX asap! it is really good although I think it ended too quickly and that the book was too short for the topic!
    but still very good :)
