We ❤️ Facemasks | Superdrug Powder Mask First Impressions

I'd been wanting to treat myself to a new face mask for a while, and the morning I planned to buy one, Olivia's post about Superdrugs powder masks popped up onto my twitter timeline! I had a read, and set my heart on getting the charcoal one. However, I didn't realise at the time that her post is a year old! Which, honestly, made me all the more surprised I'd never spotted these before!

Superdrug is literally my favourite shop at the moment, especially as most of their own products are vegan now! Due to having sensitive skin, I have to be quite careful with what products I use, but these sounded promising. I headed into the shop and oh...my store literally only had one of the different face masks. It wasn't the charcoal one. I was gutted as I love charcoal face masks but I decided to pick it up anyway - I'm always up for trying something totally different!

I also noticed they had a bunch of cleansers in the same packaging - I might try one of them next!

So, the only mask they had was a matcha tea one. I've literally never tried anything matcha, so I really had no idea what to expect - especially scentwise. I was also a bit apprehensive about their range being powders. You have to tip it onto wet hands and create a paste.

I have to say, it was actually quite hard to get the balance of wetness and powder right, and I wasn't expecting great results once I'd applied it. However, once I went back to the bathroom to wash it off, I was pleasantly surprised to find how much thicker it had gotten, and I'd actually covered myself better than initially thought! As for the smell, it could be better. But then it could also be a lot worse! I'm just going to assume that all matcha products smell like this.

Washing it off was an absolute dream. Normally, it takes ages to wash off a face mask, but with this one I just dampened my flannel with warm water; one swipe and it was gone! My face felt so good, 'squeaky clean' as promised.

After about ten minutes, I noticed the area around my mouth starting to feel a little tight. Popping on my serum and moisturiser soon solved that, and I'm 100% putting it down to the fact I had it on for about 15 minutes longer than recommended! Unfortunately, Charlie started crying from teething pains just as I got up to wash it off, so I couldn't go anywhere until he was settled!

Despite that, I'm extremely happy with this little purchase! My first impression is an extremely positive one, and I'm looking forward to using it on my next pamper night. Hopefully I'll only be wearing it for 10-15 minutes next time, and I'll add in a little update as to whether the tightness happens again!

Update: after my second use, of just 10 minutes wear I can confirm...no tightness! Just a lovely clean face that smells like matcha. What else could a girl want?
