Everything You Need in Your New Nursery*

Three months into your pregnancy, you should be starting to plan and prepare for the new life that will soon be a part of your world. One of the most important pieces of this puzzle is setting up a nursery. For the first year, the nursery is going to be your baby’s bedroom, and it’s important that it has everything that you and he needs. Let’s start with some of the basic necessities and then work our way to option adds ons.

 Baby Monitor

Do make sure that you invest in a quality baby monitor. It’s important that you can hear and see the baby when you are not in the room. You want to make sure that they are safe and aren’t in distress. This is also a good way to check whether you should or shouldn’t answer the baby’s cries. It will depend on what type of parenting you are applying but typically, responding to every cry teaches the little one that if they cry, you come. These days an iPad or iPhone can work as a baby monitor, but it might be worth getting an actual device designed for monitoring your baby.

 Feeding Area
You do need a feeding area for your little one too. Whether you’re feeding naturally or by the bottle, it’s important you have a comfortable place to do this. Ultimately, this can just be a seat for you where you can sit with the baby. Don’t forget, the nursery is as much for you as it is for them. You’ll be spending a lot of time in here too, so it does need to be comfortable. You might spend a night or two sleeping there so that you can be close to your little one.

 Changing Area

Changing is a natural part of parenting, of course, so you definitely need somewhere to complete this task. A table will do, but you can also get special changing areas. There are even some with pull out steps that will be useful as your child gets older and reaches the toddler stage. Whether you want to make this kind of investment is up to you as they can cost at least 200 pounds.

 Cot Or Crib
You will definitely need a cot or crib for your nursery. Cots from Cuckooland are a great choice as they have a delightful design you are sure to love. Some cots on the market have been shown to be dangerous. So, always make sure that you look at reviews online before you decide on one to buy for your baby.

 A Few Toys
In the first few months, your baby won’t be playing much with toys. However, that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t have some in your new nursery. Studies have shown that brightly colored toys and movement can aid a child’s development. Meanwhile, you can entertain yourself by creating fun characters and performing shows for your little one when they are in their crib.

Take this advice, and you’ll have everything you need for a great nursery.
